A Province is an entity in the SotE simulation engine that is composed of multiple tiles or smaller provinces and serves as the main units that the SotE simulation operates on, as operating directly on tiles would be too performance-intensive. provinces can be used to represent a variety of features, from terrain entities such as rivers and lakes to economic areas and trade regions to ecological groupings such as biomes to political entities such as independent polities and subdivisions within said polities (e.g. counties, duchies, provinces, etc.).
